I spoke way too soon.
Gerald started his incessant whining again, and it’s as bad as Day One.
He started last night, or rather, early this morning at 3am. I don’t know what prompted him to do it but I was still asleep upstairs and awakened by the whining.
Worried that it would surely disturb the neighbours, I got up and came downstairs to try and stop him but to no avail.
This was at 3am and it was a quiet night. So you can imagine how much louder his whining would be in the still of the night.
I failed miserably to stop him so I quickly bribed him with food. He ate, but only stopped whining to eat. The moment he finished, he started whining loudly again.
So he wasn’t whining because he was hungry, he’s simply whining.
Maybe he just loves to “talk”. I really don’t know.
Or, could it be that he had somewhere to go? Some other home where he preferred. I actually had half a mind to release him in the porch and let him go. But then, what about Misty?
Misty isn’t giving any problems but, the two are inseparable. If I release Gerald, I would have to release Misty too. Misty doesn’t belong in Bunny’s Place with the Blondies. She’s only here for Gerald. With Gerald. Wherever Gerald is, Misty has to be there too.
Misty doesn’t seem to be unhappy being in Bunny’s Place but that’s only because Gerald is also here.
I was in a dilemma.
My greatest worry is the incessant whining that would surely disturb the neighbours, particularly the one who has been complaining about me feeding cats and therefore attracting more to the street. And about how cats dirtied his compound when it was the musang and not cats.
I was hoping that Misty’s deed of chasing the cobra away from the front of their house may have bought cats some reprieve…..and I will continue to hope.
I thought that bringing in Gerald and Misty indoors served two purposes. First, to keep them safe from any dangers on the street, especially from reptiles and second, so that the neighbour won’t complain about cats dirtying his compound anymore or about me feeding cats in my porch. Creamy is not regular, so that should be fine.
But now…perhaps my worst fears have been realised? Does Gerald have another home that he needs to go to? Or is he just whining for attention?
I really don’t know.
If only cats could talk. If only we could understand what they want. How much easier would life be then.
The incessant whining continued until 7am when my husband woke up. The cats are generally afraid of him. It must be his ex-military aura? For those who might not know, husband is ex-military.
I told him about Gerald’s incessant whining which surprisingly had not woken him up (thank goodness for that!). So he went into action to quieten him up. It took a lot of effort too. Gerald is stubborn (about wanting to whine).
It took an hour or more before Gerald finally stopped.
Then, he started again.
Now, he is totally quiet and inside the cage, taking a comfortable nap.
These are photos taken after husband managed to keep him quiet…for awhile.
This was around 7.30am when he had whined nonstop for four-and-a-half hours.
There’s nothing wrong, is there, Gerald? You just love to talk?
Misty doesn’t whine at all. She just bullies the Blondies a little bit.
