Today was Robin’s second medicated bath with Pro-Hex.
He has a balding and itching problem, so this was prescribed along with restricting his diet to only a single protein for at least 6 weeks.
I’ve failed with the single protein diet after 3 days because he got sick of eating chicken. Moreover, trying to identify an allergen is very difficult thing.
Our cats eat chicken, quail, duck, rabbit, turkey and canned fish. Some of the recipes come mixed so it’s hard to single out the protein.
But after the first bath last Sunday, I noticed a marked improvement. So I gave him another bath today.
That’s Robin, wrapped in the towel after I lathered him with the medicated shampoo.
Singing Skidamarink-a-Dink-a-Dink takes about 20 seconds, so I have to sing it 21 times to make it to 7 minutes and I did it!
This is the shampoo.
Robin struggled only a little bit during the “wrapped up” session, but after the 7 minutes was up, I had to rinse off the shampoo and that’s when he struggled and growled.
I had a very hard time holding him down, and that was there was a sudden thunderstorm. The lightning and thunder must have frightened poor Robin that it was a double whammy for him – having to be rinsed off with water and having to brave the sound of thunder.
Suddenly, out of the blue, the most unexpected thing happened. Tabs, who is very, very terrified of lightning, jumped up onto the kitchen counter to scold Robin.
Yes, Tabs!!
Tabs???? Timid Tabs??
Yes, Tabs!!!
Tabs growled at Robin and turned on aggressively towards him. I have never, in the past 12++ years EVER seen Tabs being aggressive to anyone before.
And here was Tabs, growling and aggressively almost attacking Robin because Robin was fighting with me.
Husband witnessed it all, completely dumbfounded.
I ended up with a scratch (don’t worry, it’s just one hole, that’s the blood flowing down) by Robin.
My hero!!!
The perpetrator and my rescuer!!
It’s okay, it’s just one hole. Luckily it’s not a bite; just a scratch from the claw.
My hero!! My hero!! Tabs, you fought off my attacker!!
Robin is fine. He scuttled upstairs to hide from the thunderstorm and came down after the rain stopped.
Tabs is my Mother’s Day heroine!!
You’d think that only a dog would defend you, right?
Wrong! Cats do it too!
