The caregivers, Nicholas and Aline, took Nomi back to see the vet today because her wound looked infected.
The vet has confirmed that the wound is indeed infected and there is a possibility that it may have to re-opened up for debriding and re-suture if it does not get well. Meanwhile, to control the infection, Nomi has been prescribed with another additional antibiotic, Clindamycin, to be given once a day on top of the Curam prescribed earlier, given twice a day. Nomi has also been given Povidone Iodine to be applied topically for the wound. Nomi does not have a fever.
We truly hope Nomi’s wound will heal and there is no need for the debridement because going under general anaesthesia again so soon carries risk.
The infected wound with pus.
The vet has informed the caregivers to monitor Nomi closely for any signs of dullness and unwellness. If any, she is to be taken back to the clinic without delay. They are also to send photos of the wound to the vet on a daily basis. Nomi’s next appointment is on Saturday.
We dearly hope the added antibiotics and povidone iodine will address the infection.
