Wagging our way into the weekend with some fantastic news! 🎉
Back in January of this year, Soi Dog Foundation welcomed the financial support of Koh Samui-based Happy Doggo who committed to helping our CNVR (Catch, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return) mobile project in Surat Thani province by generously funding 50% of the two mobile teams located there. Soi Dog has sterilised 45,000 animals in the province since 2021, and since Happy Doggo began supporting the project, a further 7,188 animals have been neutered and vaccinated.
We are pleased to announce that Happy Doggo have committed to increasing their financial support of Soi Dog’s CNVR programme which will see them fund 50% of the entire southern mobile sterilisation project, encompassing three more of Soi Dog’s mobile teams already stationed in the nearby provinces of Nakhon Si Thammarat and Phatthalung. These teams have been operating since 2018 and 2022 respectively, and have already achieved incredible results, seeing close to 100,000 animals passing through the programme. With the backing of Happy Doggo, the teams can continue their impactful work in these areas. 🤝
Currently, Soi Dog’s CNVR programme operates 18 mobile clinics across the Bangkok Metropolitan Region and surrounding provinces – from Chachoengsao in the east and Nakhon Pathom in the west – and provinces in the far south of Thailand. Since 2003, we’ve neutered and vaccinated nearly 1.2 million dogs and cats, making our CNVR programme the largest of its kind in the world today.🍾
The project in Bangkok has, since 2016, received the invaluable support of Dogs Trust Worldwide who generously fund 50% of the programme there, humanely reducing the stray animal population and improving the welfare of the stray dogs and cats who call the streets their home.
As a measure of the significance this programme now holds, in March 2024 we co-hosted Thailand’s first companion animal management conference alongside Dogs Trust Worldwide, bringing together leading organisations and experts with the shared goal of improving the welfare of companion animals nationwide. The conference showcased the results of our CNVR programme in Greater Bangkok through extensive surveys jointly conducted by Soi Dog, independent companion animal management experts and Dogs Trust Worldwide, highlighting not only on the decline in the roaming dog population but also the significant drop in rabies cases and improvements in the general health of the remaining population. In addition to our successful CNVR programme, Soi Dog’s Community Outreach and Social Change teams, which include animal welfare officers, rescuers, vets and nurses, are actively engaged in communities across Thailand with the mission of raising awareness, providing medical care, and promoting a positive shift in attitudes towards animals. In 2023 alone, our outreach team treated over 14,000 dogs and cats.
Through their efforts, they not only provide essential care but also educate communities about the importance of responsible pet ownership and compassion towards all animals. This approach complements our CNVR efforts, fostering lasting change and creating a brighter future for animals throughout Thailand.
Looking ahead, 2024 promises to be an incredibly successful year for Soi Dog’s CNVR programme. With your support and the important partnerships we’ve formed, we are targeting a quarter-of-a-million dogs and cats to pass through the programme this year. 🐶🐱
Together, we’re making a lasting impact on the lives of animals in need. 🐾
