🦉THE OWLETS HAVE FLEDGED🦉 – CRUCIAL PERIOD TO STOP CROWDING AROUND🚷⛔
Video taken by: Yane Kang 🙏🏽
Thanks to many of you who called and wrote to us, concerned about the owlets. The Telok Blangah owlets have fledged and have left the nest. On the night of 9th May, our hotline received several calls from the public that one of the owlets had fallen onto the ground and at least once was on the road. Members of the public helped to carry the young owl onto the grass patch.
The owlets are now learning to fly.
🚨🦉THIS IS A CRUCIAL PHASE🦉🚨, where they will be hopping between branches, taking short flights between trees to strengthen their flight muscles – ALL that needs to happen under the supervision of their parents.
Last night, we placed the owlet as high up as we could, on the tree. The idea is so the owl can be better hidden and have the chance to hop amongst branches without falling.
This is a critical stage, and we sincerely appeal to photographers & the public to not surround the area. Presence of many people around fledged owlets can prevent the parents from giving the much needed guidance. Thank you for all the cooperation thus far!
Let us be responsible and give our urban raptors the best possible chance to survive.
