A Happy Ending (or Continuation?) At Kuchai Avenue! (from Ms Phong)

I could almost hear the Black Eyed Peas singing “Today’s gonna be a good day…”, because it is!
Here’s happy news from Ms Phong:
Dear Dr. Chan,
Further to update in my email dated 19 April 2012, I paid a visit to Ah Wong Boy and Ah Wong Girl yesterday afternoon at the petstore operated by Bee and Ehen. The dogs were kept at the back portion of the shop in two separate cages. It is a very clean and well ventalated area which is ideal for both of the them to recover. They looked very happy and lively when I visited them.
Bee will bathe them after the wound is healed completely and get them vaccinated.
Through the conversation I had with Bee, the people who work in that area take very good care of these two dogs, they don’t feed the dogs with table scraps but they buy proper dog food, dog treats and sometimes sausages. Of course being spoilt by the people in that area with all sorts of good food, they don’t like dog biscuits. Some shop operators even get proper dog bowls for these two dogs as they don’t feel right placing the food on the floor. Sometimes, during hot weather, some shop operators will let them go in to their shops to enjoy the air-con.
According to Bee, Ah Wong Girl was sleeping soundly by the road shoulder outside one of the shops. The guard who witnessed the incident claimed that the driver saw Ah Wong Girl, but he/she had no intention to avoid and drove the car over it. The dog appeared to be fine until the day before PAWS came to her rescue. She was making noise due to the pain.
Bee told me that if we were from another shelter (name withheld) she would never ever let us take the dogs away as she knows that the dogs may not be returned to that community.
Dr. Chan, if you have a chance to come to Kuchai Avenue and you would like to pay Ah Wong Girl and Ah Wong Boy a visit, please bring Char Siew, as it is their favourite food.
Thank you.
Chun Eng
Photos will be sent to you via MMS.
Truly, this is a remarkable case of “All’s well that ends well” and “Good things come in pairs”, and most importantly, our slogan, “Working Together for the Animals”!
And it’s char siew for the dogs!! As a treat, of course, beware of preservatives, not too much. I’ve requested Ms Phong’s help to get some for them!
Feeling…Today’s gonna be a good, good day….
