So many things are happening at the same time!

The nesting season is still on-going, and so far, we have collected more than 1,400 river terrapin eggs! And that’s a new record for the project!

At the same time, we’re resuming our monthly river patrols to remove discarded/abandoned fishing gear.

In a recent survey conducted with staff from @perhilitan_malaysia, we found and removed a rawai (weighted fishing net) from the river. We observed a few fresh tracks left behind by river terrapins, and we even recovered 2 nests containing a total of 25 eggs on another river bank!

It is important for us to continue conducting these in-river surveys because terrapins and other wildlife could be caught (or even drown) in discarded/abandoned fishing gear.
