This World Spay Day, We Want To Share How Your Sup..

🐾 This World Spay Day, we want to share how your support for Soi Dog’s spay/neuter programme isn’t just changing animals’ lives but also positively shaping how communities view responsible pet ownership.

In some parts of Thailand, the idea of spaying/neutering is still unfamiliar and misunderstood, with some fearing it may alter the animals’ personalities. This poses a significant challenge for our Catch, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return (CNVR) programme.

Take the case of a couple in a remote village of Phang Nga province with their 25 cats. Rooted in their religious beliefs and concern for their cats’ welfare, the couple initially declined for them to be spayed/neutered. Despite the initial resistance, our social change team highlighted the benefits of the procedure, emphasising disease prevention and longevity.

Moved by the loss of a beloved cat to an illness, the wife eventually agreed for the cats to be spayed/neutered. This positive experience not only improved the lives of the cats, but also fostered a greater understanding of pet ownership within the community. She even volunteered to help with our CNVR work in the area!

This heartwarming story highlights the power of compassion, education and dialogue in overcoming challenges and fostering a world where all animals are treated with kindness and respect. Thank you for being part of our journey and helping us make a difference in the lives of Asia’s dogs and cats. 👏
