So, when we received the video of the injured dog being dragged by MBSA, we called PAWS first and then rescuer Fauziah telling them that we can take the dog. Fauziah did go to the MBSA pound and waited there for a while. Meanwhile, a dog catcher who works for the pest control company hired by MBSA called us and said that he could send the dog to a clinic of our choice. We made the necessary arrangements with our volunteer Brenda who undertook the care of the dog and made arrangements at BPVC. We then told the dog catcher to send the dog there. Yesterday, an independant rescuer asked us why we hired a thug to get the dog. We called some MBSA staff and they told us there was a punch up between the dog catcher and an independant rescuer at the pound. We do not know who the independant rescuer is. Two ‘independant’ rescuers came in and one said that it was ridiculous that MDDB has not heard about the great independant rescuer Mr So and So. We have been doing this since 2008 and never once claimed greatness. Rescuing animals is a calling – it is not a ticket to claim greatness. Another independant rescuer also commented about how they rescued and struggled to pay bills. Our advise to them would be to not rescue if they are not financially stable. We have had to ‘rescue’ many dogs from vets after independant rescuers could not discharge them due to non-payment of bills. Ironically these independant rescuers had raised funds into their personal accounts upon rescue. We are against taking money into personal accounts. You want to rescue – please have a registered organisation. If you don’t want to have a registered organisation – please ask donors to bank in directly into the vet’s account. If there is access you can use it for your other rescues – at least the donated funds to the vet will all go towards rescued dogs. FINALLY, PLEASE DO NOT DRAG US INTO YOUR PETTY DOG RESCUE POLITICS AND FIGHTS. WE NO NOT WANT TO BE INVOLVED IN THE UGLY NONSENSE.
