Received this e mail yesterday from a visitor to SDF Concerning Pimghon featured in the video below. Watch the video and see if you agree regarding the comment on quality of life. The writer is correct regarding our policy but we do euthanize if there is no quality of life and the animal is suffering with no chance of recovery. “We greatly enjoyed our volunteer work at Soi Dog. One thing that did concern us was that old black dog in the enclosure with the very old dogs that has a deformed jaw and tongue hanging out. We feel that this dog is suffering and does not have any quality of life whatsoever. The other volunteers working with us and others we spoke to agreed, and we feel that other volunteers will not want to see a dog in this condition, and it may put volunteers off from going into the enclosure as they may find it too upsetting. He can barely drink and constantly moves his head from side to side in apparent discomfort/pain. We understand it is not your policy to euthenase unless absolutely necessary, but we would certainly question this one particular dog’s quality of life”.
