Alls Well That Ends Well.(Kuchai Avenue DogS There Are Two Of Them!)
I shall start this off by thanking PAWS and Ms Phong who are totally instrumental in coordinating today’s rescue work and keeping me informed while I was at work.
You won’t believe this, but here’s the story.
The female dog is not paralysed!
Hooray!!
There are two of them – a male and a female and they are a couple.
These dogs are regarded as “guardians” of this neighbourhood and the residents there look after them well and they want them back.
There is a petstore operator who looks after them too.
Now, Ms Phong saw some bruises on the female, but no major injuries. There may be some sprains as well, but the dog can walk and is not paralysed. The injury is on the right leg.
Here’s our plan – We will take both the dogs to our vet for the female to be treated and if the male is healthy enough to be neutered, we will get him neutered. The female will be treated and eventually spayed as well. Ms Phong has asked the residents for permission to do this and they have given their consent. The best news is, they want their guardians back! So after treatment and neutering, we will definitely send them back.
Also, Ms Phong says the male is very protective of the female, so it would be far too stressful to separate them. Hence, we are bringing them both in.
The petstore owner has also offered to let both dogs recuperate in his shop if need be. He will prepare the cages.
I’ve also contacted PAWS’ manager, and he agrees with this plan.
As for the bill, we have pledged 50% subsidy and will honour this pledge. PAWS welcomes anyone else who wishes to contribute and will take up the remaining sum. Those who wish to contribute, please write to chankahyein@gmail.com as we will be settling the bill.
Ms Phong has taken photos and I will update them later when I receive them.
We cannot thank Ms Phong and PAWS enough of coming to the aid of these dogs. Ms Phong and Uncle Charles deserve all the credit in the actual hands-on work today. The residents helped as well.
I’ll be meeting Uncle Charles at the clinic when the dogs come in.
Now, THIS is working together for the animals.
Thank you, everyone, for helping in your own ways.
