Thanks to a #compassionate #ecologist, who noticed a string hanging from our little friend’s mouth, stuck under a log unable to swim away, and called our #WildlifeRescue team for assistance. 🔍 Our #WildlifeVet performed a thorough examination of the swollen neck which showed signs of a treacherous battle with a #fishhook. The turtle’s oesophagus showed significant necrosis, indicating the urgency of a delicate surgery to remove the treble hook. The road to recovery for this semi-aquatic turtle was no easy feat, balancing the need for a clean dry surgical site and essential daily hydrating soaks too. 💖 With a guarded prognosis, the turtle underwent tube feeding, and after over a month of unwavering care, our hero has just started eating on own! 🍽️🎉
