When You See An Animal In Distress

Lately, we have been receiving SOSes for help, citing animals in distress, whether the animal has been beaten up, run over by vehicles or is in dire straits somewhere.

Here’s what we suggest:

When you see an animal in distress:

1. If you can, pick up the animal and send it straight to the vet’s. If it is after office hours, Gasing Hospital has a call-back service with an emergency charge.

Gasing Hospital 03-77823553

Our subsidy policies apply:http://myanimalcare.org/subsidy/

2. If you fail to pick up the animal, you may contact us or any other organisations to seek help. However, on our part, as we are only a medical fund and NOT a rescue team, we cannot help you with rescue. We can only blog for help on your behalf. But please reveal your full name and handphone number so that you can be easily contactable. We do not and cannot guarantee that we will be able to find help. But we will certainly try. Once you receive any offer of help, please liaise directly with the rescuer and make the necessary arrangements. We are not an intermediary. Only if you need funding, then contact us.

3. As the rescuer of the animal, you have to take full responsibility of the animal. To put it rather bluntly (but what needs to be said has to be said), please do not dump the animal on the rescuer who has helped you. That is very unfair. If the rescuer has only agreed to help you catch and transport to the vet, then that is all you can expect from the rescuer.

4. If you need help with the medical bill, you may apply to our fund. Again, our policies apply:http://myanimalcare.org/subsidy/

5. To source for rescuers, blast out your appeal as widely as possible, through facebook, tweeter or other media. Do not only depend on us as our readership may be limited.
