Soidog20years. If 2021 Had Proved Challenging, 202..

If 2021 had proved challenging, 2022 was hot on its heels.
With a seemingly constant stream of new animals arriving, further expansion was required, so eight more communal enclosures were built, capable of housing up to 150 more dogs.
To help reduce the strain on our already overstretched hospitals, a third community outreach team was launched and almost 11,000 community animals received their care through the year. The teams also continued to provide medical support and annual vaccinations for dogs at the local government pound.
In other news, in July the USA revised their dog import ban to once more allow dogs to enter the country, albeit under more convoluted guidelines. The first soi dogs travelled there to one of our partner rescue organisations The Barking Lot in San Diego.
As one door opened, though, another slammed shut as Canada announced a near-identical ban which came into force in September. Just like we did before the USA ban a year earlier, we managed to send 51 dogs to Canada before the ban came into effect.
