This week in the #SoiDog20Years timeline, we look back at 2017.⁠

The shocking events of early 2017 were a sobering reminder of how fragile life can be 💔⁠

After a short illness, and all the obstacles she had overcome in her life, Soi Dog co-founder Gill Dalley tragically passed away on February 13. ⁠

A leader, a nurturer, an inspiration – Soi Dog and everyone associated were in mourning. A one-of-a-kind had been lost.

Few people create the impact that Gill did, both on the animals she called her own, and on the people who were blessed to meet her.

Tributes came pouring in, and a cremation ceremony was attended by hundreds. Soi Dog vehicles formed a procession as people came together to grieve and to pay their respects to the mother of Soi Dog Foundation 🕊️⁠

Soi Dog had faced many challenges down the years, but this one threatened to be the biggest of all. Testament to the verve and passion that Gill had created within Soi Dog, those who remained vowed to fight on in her memory.

Gill may have left this world, but the legacy she created lives on in the thousands of animals whose lives would change for the better because of her.

Soi Dog Foundation

Established in 2003 in Phuket, Thailand, Soi Dog is Southeast Asia's largest organisation helping stray animals. The Gill Dalley sanctuary in Phuket is home to over 1,600 animals. Soi Dog also has a treatment facility in Bangkok and responds to crisis situations throughout Thailand.
