Today's A Special Day, August 9 It's International..

🌟 Today’s a special day, August 9! It’s International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples! 🎉 WWF-Malaysia is excited to shine a spotlight on some awesome stories about indigenous communities in Sabah who are champions in protecting the ocean! 🌊

Let’s kick off with an incredible story about the communities of Pulau Balambangan, an island in Tun Mustapha Park. They’ve been facing some serious challenges due to climate change. 🌪️🌊 Rising seas are eroding beaches, destroying homes, contaminating freshwater sources, and even forcing them to move ancestral graves! 😢

💪 WWF-Malaysia, the District Office of Banggi, and the communities came up with the Local Early Action Plan (LEAP) to help them understand the risks and take action to fight climate change and be more resilient to its effects.

These indigenous communities are now actively involved in climate action! 🌿 So let’s cheer on these amazing champions who are showing effort in tackling climate change and making a difference for our planet! 🌏
