Meiji just informed me that Curly passed on on 31st March, after taking a turn for the worst on the last day. Meiji had been taking Curly for treatment at UPM for cancer. Unfortunately, the treatment is the chemotherapy tablet, and this medication had taken a toll on Curly’s immunity. We sponsored Vetri DMG for Curly and the dog with heartworm Stage 3, Herculis.
On the last day, Curly vomited blood, but as we all know, animals know how to let go when conditions are no longer favourable, so the next afternoon, Curly was gone.
Curly’s last bill total RM299.50. We have sponsored RM150 for it.
May Curly be in a better place now.
In loving memory of Curly.
He fought bravely till the end.
Being a Buddhist practitioner, Meiji assures me she will not opt for euthanasia for any of her dogs. She normally brings back terminal dogs, lets them listen to chanting and they will pass on peacefully by themselves. It normally doesn’t take very long as animals know when to let go. It is sometimes the human who cannot bear their own suffering of watching the animal fade away. It is the same as watching our human relatives or friends’ last days, especially those who pass away of some illness. It is painful, and sometimes we cannot help but wish it would end quickly. Yet, we cannot snuff out the life from our human relatives or friends. The same applies to our animal friends.
It is in our policy that we cannot subsidise euthanasia or the spaying of pregnant dogs as this amounts to killing, which is forbidden in any good religion. But we respect those who wish to opt to do these, as each rescuer has his/her own beliefs and principles. We are not here to say who is right or wrong, but just to clarify that we have our policies.
Recently, it has been brought to my attention that some rescuers are planning to ask their vets to list the spaying of pregnant dogs as just “spaying” without revealing that it is an abortion, or to list euthanasia as “medical treatment”. Of course, we hope no vet will do such things. We also hope no rescuer will attempt to cheat us this way.
For those who wish to apply for our subsidy, we only have one request – please respect our policies.
Thank you.
