This Tuesday, we visited SMK Kampung Baru Kertih for one of our four school turtle camps in collaboration with @lang_tengah_turtle_watch!

Both TCS and LTTW brought exhibits of sea turtles and terrapins respectively to share with the students. Talks were also given — first, LTTW shared information about sea turtles with quizzes between subtopics. Then, TCS gave a talk more focused on terrapins with another quiz at the end.

109 students participated in the programme, and students actively involved in answering questions were rewarded with prizes. It was a good interactive session with the secondary students, who really enjoyed the information session (especially the prizes!). This programme allows them to learn something new beyond what is taught in their classes.

This project is a collaboration with @lang_tengah_turtle_watch and is supported by @cimbfoundation.

We hope to do more turtle camps in schools that will benefit both the students and teachers! Looking forward to the next three school sessions with LTTW!

Turtle Conservation Society

The Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia was established in October 2011. The aim of the society is to bring about the recovery of depleted wild populations of turtles, with particular reference to freshwater turtles, in Malaysia through partnerships with like-minded organizations, individuals and local communities as well as through its own programs.
