Soidog20years Continued. Another Highly Significan..

#SoiDog20Years continued 🧡

Another highly significant achievement of 2014 was the implementation of Thailand’s first ever animal welfare bill.

Soi Dog’s successful fight against the dog and cat meat trade had seen the introduction of a committee – upon which Soi Dog played an instrumental role – and the development of the bill which included prohibiting the killing of animals for food unless categorised as livestock.

The introduction of the Cruelty Prevention and Welfare of Animal Act, B.E. 2557 (2014) was a momentous breakthrough in the battle for the welfare of companion animals in Asia and a good news day for dogs and cats in Thailand.

Soi Dog continues to sit on the committee to this day, meeting with counterparts regularly to help continually revise and improve the Act ⚖️
