Tougher Than Wonderwoman….

Appearances can be deceiving, because this woman named Danka is one very tough woman. She may not be able to lift a car over head, but her strength is even more admirable. For decades, Danka and her husband Zoran have rescued many, many hundreds of animals and cared for them in their home in Bosnia. Danka suffers from an ulcer, arthritis and a prolapsed uterus, giving her a lot of days where life is very painful. But she won’t give up. She gets up early each morning and starts all over again to care for the animals at their shelter, more than 100 of them, who have nowhere else to turn. The animals here are LOVED and treated as individuals. Their environment is cleaned for hours each day. There’s no staff, no big team of volunteers. Just two determined people whose life purpose is to care for the outcasts. The shelter needs firewood to split and dry out before winter. There is no other form of heat here.
