Pada hari Rabu lepas, semasa Geng Tuntung sedang membantu mencari mangsa tragedi kepala air Air Putih, mereka menemui seekor tuntung sungai di bawah cabang-cabang pokok.

Tuntung sungai betina tersebut tidak boleh menyelam dan kelihatan tidak bermaya. Geng Tuntung membawa balik tuntung tersebut dan memberikan ia buah pisang, tetapi tidak dimakan.

Pada pagi Sabtu, tuntung tersebut dijumpai telah mati 😭 Ia merupakan tuntung sungai yang paling besar pernah kita ketemukan. Panjang 63 cm, berat 36 kg.

Kami telah menanam bangkai tersebut di tepi sungai, dan kami akan memungut tulang-tulang tuntung dalam beberapa bulan yang akan datang.

Last Wednesday, while our Terrapin Guardians were assisting in the Air Putih tragedy search operations, they encountered a river terrapin floating under some tree branches.

The female terrapin was floating sideways, couldn’t dive and looked lethargic. Our Terrapin Guardians brought her back, gave her bananas, but she did not feed.

On Saturday morning, she was found dead 😭 She was the largest river terrapin we’ve encountered. She measured 63 cm and weighed 36 kg.

We buried the carcass on a riverbank and we will retrieve the skeletal remains in a few months time. RIP 🙏🏻
