HUMANE EDUCATION: ROLE-PLAY, TOUR, DEEPER DISCUSSIONS
ACRES was glad to host a group of undergraduate university students in May, from the midwestern USA, led by Jennifer Norris of Edu-Odyssey Study Abroad Programs as part of a study abroad program focusing on culture and global issues. Through a detailed guided tour of our sanctuary, role-play activity and discussions, the students were introduced to topics such as #IllegalWildlifeTrade, coexistence, wildlife etiquette and the plights of our native wildlife, amidst pressures faced from developments in our #CityInNature. The section on wildlife etiquette covered species such as monitor lizards, otters, and saltwater crocodiles, which they might encounter at Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, which was the next destination on their itinerary on the same day.
If you’d like ACRES Education team to engage and inspire your student groups through a visit and activities, please email education@acres.org.sg with proposed dates, timings and number of students.
