In Jan 2014, A Friend In The Uk Emailed Us About H..

In Jan 2014, a friend in the UK emailed us about her German friend living in Malaysia. He had asked her to arrange with us to take care of his dogs and cats as he wanted to commit suicide. When we read the email, we asked a journalist friend to inform the police and get them to check out the address given to us. When the police went there, they found him hanging from the living room fan and his pets sitting around. There were 18 dogs and 4 cats. By the time we arrived, the local council was also there to take the animsls away. Luckily, the police told them to wait until our arrival. With the help of a lady friend and Carlos of G Pets, we managed to put 10 dogs for boarding at G Pets, 1 was fostered by our volunteer, two were fostered by a neighbour, 3 went to a private shelter and 2 of the oldest dogs came back with us. The cats were taken by a cat lover. All the dogs were siblings from several litters and their mother Sandy was one of the dogs that we brought back with us. The other dog that came with us was a Rottie named Vera. Vera was the most genteel, intelligent and loving dog we had ever met. According to our UK friend, Vera had brought Sandy home during one of her walks in the neighbourhood in Old Klang Road. The German man was more of a hoarder, as he never vaccinated or neutered his dogs. We managed to get all of Sandy’s children adopted and one of them Ricky went to live in the USA. Vera had a happy life with us until she died over a year later. The grand old lady Sandy is still with us and had mammary gland tumour removal surgery yesterday at Gasing. Although we had neutered her as soon as we got her, giving birth to litters and litters of puppies most probably exposed her to getting canine breast cancer. Please keep our Sandy in your thoughts and hope she has a speedy recovery. First pix is of Sandy and Vera.

Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better

Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better is a canine welfare programme initiated by non-profit organisation Community Development and Integration Initiative (CDII).

MDDB's main activities revolve around rescuing dogs from the local council pounds as well as off the streets. Once they have been rescued, the dogs are vaccinated and neutered before being put up for adoption.
