Introducing A New Cat To The Resident Cat (from Ng Chen Chen)

I stumbled upon a YouTube video that tells the story of how a new kitten and an older cat who is already established in a household learn to become fast friends. I think this video would be able to teach us a lot about cats communication. Many adopters are hesitant or return a cat when their cat react violently towards the newcomer because humans don’t understand cat behaviour. Well, this video does a good job in showing that cats need some time to know each other and they communicate with a lot of fighting and chasing. As long as the cats are (1) not purposefully injuring the other cat – wounds, bleeding, etc; and (2) each cat is not packing its bag and moving out of the house, then they are indeed in the process of getting to know each other.
