Rescuing is a community effort. Once the general public participates, only then can the plight of street dogs be properly addressed. But many are not willing to take take the extra step other than posting and commenting on FB. These two individuals, in spite of being busy medical professionals, took it upon themselves to do what is necessary to rehome the puppies. All of you can do the same and if funds are needed to pay for vaccinations, things can always be sorted out. Well done Dr Sanggary and Dr Maheswaran. The puppies will be up for adoption on all three days at the Pet Expo.

KLANG: After seeing a litter of puppies allegedly being tormented by children, a pair of doctors have turned rescuers and taken the brood under their wings.
General practitioner Dr M. Sanggary, 35, and her husband, nephrologist Dr K. Maheswaran, 38, had been feeding the three-month-old puppies and their mother as well as other puppies from an earlier litter.
They also vaccinated the puppies twice and dewormed them.
“I want to get them out of here as it is not safe for the puppies.
“Initially, there were six puppies and one died. Another was found hiding in the drain with wounds on its body,” said Dr Sangary, who lives with her husband and young son at a gated residential area in Seremban.
Dr Sangary has two other dogs, Ruby and Rudolph, she kept from a previous rescue.
Recently, a video of children tormenting the mother dog and puppies with a long pole went viral on social media.
“It was really upsetting and I am hoping to get the puppies adopted as soon as possible,” she added.
Dr Sangary and Dr Maheswaran have handed the puppies over to canine welfare project Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better (MDDB) to be put up for adoption during the Pet Expo Malaysia event at Mid Valley Convention Centre on May 5, 6 and 7.
They said they would also vaccinate and neuter the mother as well as the older puppies and hand them over to MDDB later.
She also said her family would be moving out soon as they did not want to live in an area where others do not share their compassion for stray animals, adding that the resident association had hired dog catchers to rid the place of stray dogs.
