Take Your Kids to Soi Dog Day 📚🐕

Schools may be on summer break in Thailand, but the learning continues at Soi Dog!

Our humane education team held a special ‘Take Your Kids to Soi Dog Day’ recently, inviting our employees’ children to spend a day at the shelter.

Hosted at our on-site humane education centre, the fun and interactive day saw the children role-play, brainstorm and problem solve, all the while learning about the needs and rights of stray and domestic animals.

On the agenda were a wide range of topics, including how to be a responsible pet owner; how to protect ourselves and our animals from rabies; and how to make a cat toy!

The children also took a tour of the wider shelter, giving them an opportunity to connect closely with the animals they were learning about.

Take Your Kids to Soi Dog Day was a change of pace for our humane education team who are accustomed to teaching classes of 30 or more. Last year, they reached more than 10,000 students in total across 58 different schools – the highest numbers seen since the programme’s inception in 2017.

Our ultimate goal is to see animal welfare fully integrated into the national curriculum in Thailand but, until that day arrives, your support is ensuring as many children as possible are given the opportunity to learn the importance of empathy for animals.
