It’s hard to imagine a tougher start to life than Yamel’s. At just a few months old, her mother was poisoned, leaving her and her six siblings alone and at risk of suffering the same fate. Worst of all, they were on a small island with nowhere to escape to.

Luckily, we were alerted to the situation by a kind person on the island, and a rescue mission by boat and truck soon followed.

During her two years at the shelter, Yamel has worked hard on overcoming her fears so she can be the best version of herself for her future family – and she’s doing a great job! Though wary in certain situations, we can see her settling into a home beautifully given the time and space to do so.

Soi Dog Foundation

Established in 2003 in Phuket, Thailand, Soi Dog is Southeast Asia's largest organisation helping stray animals. The Gill Dalley sanctuary in Phuket is home to over 1,600 animals.
