Last Week, We Brought You News That An Industrial-..

📢 Last week, we brought you news that an industrial-scale cat slaughterhouse in the southern Vietnamese province of Dong Thap had ceased all operations following landmark intervention from the authorities.

Over five tons of frozen cat meat was destroyed by the local Environmental Police Department – putting the slaughterhouse out of business – and 197 cats were rescued and are now receiving urgent care from a Soi Dog team with the help of local supporters.

To thank the authorities for their compassionate action, Soi Dog’s Director of International Advocacy Rahul Sehgal presented police personnel with certificates of appreciation in a ceremony held yesterday.

“It is expected that in the future, the two sides will continue to work together to rescue abandoned, captive dogs and cats [from] the dog and cat trade, thereby contributing to raising social awareness about animal protection issues,” reads an article in the local press, the full version of which can be found here: https://baodongthap.vn/xa-hoi/phong-canh-sat-moi-truong-nhan-giay-khen-cua-to-chuc-quoc-te-112642.aspx?zarsrc=30&utm_source=zalo&utm_medium=zalo&utm_campaign=zalo
