Dear Dr Chan ,

Dr Chan I am worryAhMoonwill be perasite even though doctor didn’t mation so could you let me know your friend phone number so she can teach me how to nursingAhMoon.
I contacted my friend, Lydia, and she agreed to help.
This is after Lydia’s first visit:
Hi Kah Yein,Just a quick update, I saw Amy’s kit this afternoon. The fractures Ah
Moon has sustained are expected to heal in time but of more immediate
concern is her bladder and bowel care as she had not peed a drop or
poo’d since she got home from the clinic. I showed Amy how to express
her cat’s bladder if she finds that Ah Moon is not emptying her
bladder herself.
Ah Moon also has very poor appetite which is also the main concern
now. Needs to be syringe fed and won’t even try to eat on her own.
Although after I managed to express her full bladder, she looked more
relaxed and was already showing positive signs since this morning.
Despite Ah Moon’s fractured pelvis, she stodd up when I was there. She
could kick with both her hind legs although her reflex in her right
hind leg is weaker than the left. One of her front legs may also be
affected at this point but she is able to use all her four legs to
walk. Lots of rest, good food and TLC for Ah Moon.
Since Ah Moon is only four months, youth is on her side and the young
ones often show lots of promise of recovery. Her poor appetite will be
the challenge as she’ll need good nutrition to heal.
I know of another case where this little kitten had a badly fractured
pelvis, two broken legs, one huge infected open wound and possible
urinary track problems due to the open wound. In total, this little
kitten looked crushed and crumpled as her fractured pelvis caused her
hind legs to be angled crookedly. Nonetheless despite the odds (as it
seemed at that time), her adopters (who adopted her just after she
sustained her injuries) gave her unrelentless care and commitment and
she recovered and is now a fiesty grown up cat.
We thank Lydia for helping Ah Moon and teaching Amy how to nurse her.
We hope, as Lydia says, with the benefit of youth, Ah Moon will soon recover.
