A Soi Dog Living Life To The Max. Max, Formerly Kn..

A soi dog living life to the max! ❤

Max, formerly known at the shelter as Datmando, was rescued at a few weeks old after a local man heard the sound of dogs crying as he passed by an abandoned building. Inside, he discovered a skinny mother dog nursing her four babies, including Datmando.

They were weak, malnourished and desperately needed help, so he called Soi Dog. We quickly sent our rescue team to collect the little family and bring them to the shelter for safety and medical care.

Datmondo lived in our puppy enclosure for seven months before he was chosen by our partner rescue Refuge Balto in Canada, travelling on one of the final flights before the implementation of the CFIA import ban in September last year. He has since been adopted and renamed Maximus – or Max for short.

At first, Max wouldn’t leave his travel crate when he arrived at his new home – only sticking his nose out occasionally to eat, drink or enjoy a little chin scratch. But his new mum shared some exciting news about the big steps he’s made since:

“About two days after he arrived, I went and laid down with him in his pen, it was like a light switched on! Instant transformation and it was quite something. All of a sudden he wanted to explore and was alert and interested and came out to explore. Then he actually became silly and playful and attacked his new fuzzy bed with glee. He’s a total joy!

Max is such a goofball and a big baby – so playful! He rubs all over me and sits on me. I am surprised how fast it’s progressing and how clever he is. He has already learnt his name and comes when I call him for a treat, and plays fetch! Every day we have play time and training time. He’s working on “stay” and “down.” He does sit and “high five” perfectly.

I’ve started taking him outside in the fenced dog area, with full safety gear on. We had a cuddle session on the couch where he proceeded to roll around like a silly boy and wanted his tummy rubbed.

All is wonderful with our adored Max. He’s incredibly lovable and sweet. We are so in love with him already and I can’t believe how blessed we are that he’s so easy.”

If you can give a rescue dog like Datmando a chance to live a #furrytailending life, please visit https://www.soidog.org/adopt-a-dog. While our dogs are now unable to find homes in Canada on account of the CFIA ban, they can find homes in the USA, Europe and here in Thailand.
