Setiu Wetlands is a natural wetland area that is known to be important for its ecological functions and services to the people and environment.

Hence, to celebrate World Wetlands Day 2023 earlier this month, WWF-Malaysia and Terengganu State Parks had collaboratively organized a ‘Mangrove Trail’ hike to uncover the wonders of the mangrove wetlands in Setiu, Terengganu. A total of 40 students from Universiti Malaysia Terengganu and Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin took part in the activity. It was held with the guidance of the local community that is directly involved with mangrove restoration to honour their contributions in conserving nature.

A concurrent exhibition was also held to further fuel the conversation about wetland conservation. By taking the initiative to promote and educate the public on the importance of preserving wetlands, WWF-Malaysia is at the forefront of inspiring people to come together in actively safeguarding such unique habitats. Let us all contribute to protect, conserve and make sustainable use of wetlands for both people and nature.
