A furrytailending story to fill your heart this Valentine’s Day 💗
Cinta was found in front of a local supermarket with a deep wound around her body. Someone had tied a rubber band around her, and it had dug deep into her skin over time. On top of this, she was also battling anaemia, pneumonia and intestinal parasites.
When we shared Cinta’s story on Facebook, it caught the attention of a family in Belgium who reached out right away with an offer to adopt her. True to their word, they waited patiently as Cinta underwent treatment and slowly recovered physically and emotionally.
Ten months after her arrival, Cinta was able to fly to her new family. Now named Celery, she’s very much enjoying life. Here’s a lovely update and some photos to prove it!
“When she arrived in 2020, we had anticipated that she might be a little shy or wary, but on the contrary. Half an hour after coming home, she was already chasing toys and strings! This has hardly changed. She is a very motivated toy player and loves playing with feathers on wand toys or chase little strings around the flat for an hour.
She is the play hard sleep hard type and once she has exhausted her play drive, she will find a sunny spot by the window or lie on a heating pad. She loves warmth and enjoys sleeping in our laps very much.
Something you can clearly see from the pictures is that she just loves being around others, cat or human, she’s not picky, but she always wants to know what’s going on. She is very curious and even when you can see that she is already tired, she will try and be around anything that’s going on. She is VERY in love with food and quickly learned tricks and commands. She can do sit and catch and a few other things, and she knows the sound of the food cupboard door so well she will come running from any part of the flat. We have to be careful that we don’t chunk her up too much, because it’s hard to refuse that cute little face!
Some other quirks she has, especially when she is relaxing, are her funny postures she gets into and that little tongue blip she gets when she is super relaxed. It melts our hearts every time.
It took some time for Ginger, my other cat, to warm up to her, but now they get along very well, some light play fights included. 😅
As the cats get regular feedings due to their medical needs, they have good sense of time and Celery will, in the morning, crawl to my husband’s pillow and sniff in his ear until he wakes up to feed them. 😂
We have very recently brought a third cat into the fold (Thyme) and our three little herbalists (Ginger, Celery and Thyme) are already starting to warm up to one another. Celery is a big drive in that. She is super social and (without being too pushy) has already included her new sister. As Thyme is more than 12, deaf and has a lot of health issues, she is of course not the biggest play buddy, but Celery likes to hang out near her without bothering her too much. She is a very loving and intuitive little bundle. Though when something is not to her liking, she is very verbal about her displeasure. She is just making us happy every day. ❤”
