From Donovan:
Dear Dr. Chan,
Daddy is a short hair medium sized brown dog. We met Daddy for the first time when we moved into our current housing area about 10 months ago. He’s was just one of the pack of 3 strays hanging around the park near our house. Initially they were very apprehensive about us but they started to get close to us when we rescued and took care of the 5 puppies that he and Momi dog gave birth to. We’re not sure how old he is but he’s probably around 3 years old.
Since then, the pack has been pretty close to us because we feed them and they pretty much hang around outside our house everyday. He’s a very gentle dog and loves to be close to us. He and Momi usually takes walks with us when we walk our cats around the neighbourhood every evening. Sometimes when we go running or cycling, they even join us. They love to run.
Daddy, like the rest of us, is far from perfect. His 2 major vices are chasing cars and terrorizing the neighbourhood pet dogs that are being walked on leashes every evening. He is very territorial of his section of the neighbourhood. Actually, I think that a lot of the “non-animal lover” neighbours probably despise him and those who walk their dogs probably wish that he didn’t terrorize them on a daily basis. Usually, it’s just a lot of barking.
Unfortunately today an incident happened which got pretty ugly. In the usual style he went and terrorized one of the neighbour’s 8 year old pet labrador that her daughter was walking. I was not around at the time but the neighbour came over later to tell me that Daddy had bitten her dog on the neck. She said that the injuries are not bad but it’s not a good thing to happen. She also said that she was concerned that some of the neighbours would start calling in the council to round up all the dogs in the neighbourhood because he was getting a little overboard. This is something that I’ve been concerned about for as long as he’s been around the neighbourhood.
To cut the story short, we believe that Daddy needs a new place to call his home. We are hoping that someone can give Daddy a home in a free roaming environment because he has been a stray all his life. I think that he would flourish in a farm or an animal sanctuary or anywhere with a lot of land for him to run around.
Please feel free to contact me (Donovan) at 012-4247112 if you are interest to give Daddy a home.
Thank you
Donovan
