DON’T LET YOUR CATS TAKE THE FALL FOR YOUR CARELESSNESS.
Please save them by meshing your windows.
The recent surge in cases of cats falling from heights at the SPCA is dire. Since the start of 2023, we are seeing an average of 8 cases of cats falling from heights each week, totaling nearly 30 cats since the start of the year.
This is a 60% increase compared to last year. These are just the cases that SPCA sees and the true number of cases could be much higher.
Our cats are not intentionally jumping from heights. They are falling due to unintentional slips. The consequences of these falls are devastating and often fatal. More than half of these cats die from impact, while the survivors are left with severe injuries such as damaged cleft palates, jaw fractures, eye protrusion, pelvic fractures, broken limbs, and multiple broken bones.
As pet guardians, it is our responsibility to protect these innocent animals and ensure their safety. The simplest and most effective way to prevent these falls is by meshing your windows. We urge you to take immediate action and mesh your windows and doors to protect your furry family.
Respectfully,
Staff of the SPCA
