So, tonight is going to be a nightmare for dogs as the incessant sound of bursting firecrackers will send shivers down their spines. Most of the street-smart street dogs will usually cower under parked cars and bushes until the loud blasts cease. Hence, generally, pets are the ones that get the biggest scare of their lives and end up running away in fright. And that is why there are many cases of lost dogs and dogs with collars in pounds after the festive season. Here are some simple steps to keep your four-legged family safe wile you blast away ushering in the Year of the Rabbit.
1. Make sure your gates are locked when you are blasting your crackers. If you need to keep your gates open, make sure your dogs are secured.
2. Prepare a cosy place fort your pets to cower when the blasting takes place. It can be under a bed which is cosied with bedsheets or a dog bed. Remember to keep the room door closed.
3. For big dogs, cover their cage with sheets or cardboard so that they cannot see the light from the crackers, cosy the inside of their cage with sheets and perhaps a pillow for them to cower.
4. Once the fireworks end and you want to release your pets from the room or cages, make sure your gate is closed.
These are simple things you can do to keep your pets safe and comforted.
