We Once Feared That Cho Cho Would Spend The Rest O..

We once feared that Cho Cho would spend the rest of her days at the shelter, but she beat all the odds against her and found a loving home in New York City 🗽
Cho Cho was about five months old and in extremely poor condition when she arrived at Soi Dog in 2016. Not only was she skinny, neglected and covered in ticks, during her initial examination our vets found she was blind and ataxic too.
With her condition, Cho Cho found the busy puppy enclosure overwhelming and spent most of the day walking in circles as she tried to find a quiet spot to rest. We knew she desperately needed a home but feared we would never find one that suited her specific needs.
However, the following year, Cho Cho’s sweet and gentle nature caught the eye of a vet volunteer from the USA who fell in love and decided to adopt her. As she was still studying, she asked her family to give Cho Cho a home. They agreed and even travelled to Thailand to collect the lucky girl from our shelter!
Cho Cho was renamed Kiku Mei which means “beautiful flower” 🌸 Here’s a lovely update from her family:
“As I write this Kiku is sleeping next to me ❤️ She is a sweet little dog. Her happiness is greeting us when we return from an errand. Her medication causes her to sleep a lot, but we’re ok with that. Whatever makes it easier for her.
She is my husband’s princess. In his eyes, the sun rises and sets on her. Her world is comfortable and easy. I decided a year after she arrived to sleep next to her in the living room. She knows mommy is near and she doesn’t need to search for me too far. We take life with Kikuch (that is what I call her) day by day. She has me near her at night but her Daddy is with her all day long.
I don’t think Kiku suffers any loss due to her condition. She just takes her world as it comes day by day. We’ve learned from her to accept and be happy for what we have. She is loved and cherished. We should all have what she has. Thank you and Soi Dog for all you do.❤️ ”
