Warning Disturbing Content Man Imprisoned For The ..

⚠️WARNING: Disturbing content⚠️ Man imprisoned for the slaughter and consumption of puppies following Soi Dog-Police investigation.

We are pleased to bring you news of a successful prosecution here in Thailand. Following a joint investigation by Soi Dog and Royal Thai Police, a man in Nakhon Si Thammarat province has been imprisoned for the slaughter of puppies for consumption.

The killing of dogs and cats and the consumption of their meat is illegal in Thailand under the Cruelty Prevention and Welfare of Animal Act, B.E. 2557 (2014) – an Act which Soi Dog was able to help introduce in collaboration with the government and with the support of animal lovers like you.

Concern was first raised in the case by our mobile clinic staff stationed in the province who encountered a puppy with a deep laceration to its neck.

Further enquiries led our community liaison team and local police to the suspect’s house which was found to contain bones, corpses and cooked meat. Tests at a research university in Bangkok confirmed the cooked meat to be canine, while Soi Dog vets confirmed the bones to be those of a puppy.

The man was arrested and later given a six-month jail term which was reduced to three months upon his guilty plea.

While we are always pushing for tougher penalties to be handed down in cases of animal cruelty, this successful sentencing still marks a positive step forward for animal welfare in Thailand.

Thank you for helping us fight animal cruelty and bring its perpetrators to justice. This wouldn’t have been possible without you.
