We are honoured and proud to have our Co-CEO Ka Lai Kalai’s story featured by Project Lionheart which shared #inspirational stories of Singaporeans through the #Covid19 period! Thank you to Ministers Desmond Lee Desmond Lee and Indranee Rajah Indranee Rajah for gracing the event last week, and meeting these inspiring individuals!

“When #Singapore was hit with the first case of COVID-19, my immediate concern was for ACRES. Would we get shut down? What will happen to the animals? How will we survive the pandemic? Due to safe distancing measures, we lost all our volunteers which crippled manpower extensively. Then, our finances took a hit as donations from the public plummeted. Our role as guardians of animals suddenly felt impossible.

However, we stuck to our guns and regrouped with whatever resources we had. We used the time to improve and explore new techniques to rescue, treat and rehabilitate animals. Even as the pandemic raged on, members of the public were still calling in daily to seek help for distressed animals. I realised that by helping these animals and serving the community, we were also giving many people peace of mind as they knew that they could turn to us, rain or shine, to lend a helping hand to animals in need.”
