More Litter Tales

A friend gave me a packet of cat litter to try the other day…
It is a Japanese brand and everything was in Japanese so I didn’t know what it contained.
It’s supposed to clump very well. Unfortunately, it has very, very strong perfume.
And only Tabs used it. But the clumping is fantastic, even better than Ever Clean.
However, I don’t want to use perfumed litter and I do wonder what chemical is used for the excellent clumping.
Oh, oh…you’re not going to destroy this packet of paper litter, are you?
Tabs seems to have this thing against pictures of other cats….
After having tried the clay litter for about two weeks, I think all my cats and I prefer to revert to Ever Clean.
A reader from our FB page also alerted me to this:http://nydogsworld.com/articles.aspx. It says that the harvest of clay is not an environmentally friendly process. It destroys the topsoil.
So, it’s back to Ever Clean.
But another reader from our FB told me about Avid Eco, and I called the company to enquire. Here’s their website:http://avideco.com.my/magic_litter.html. It works this way: You leave the litter there for 1-2 weeks; there is no need to scoop anything up as it contains probiotics to convert the urine into “something not unpleasant”. You only scoop up the poo.
Hmm…but I like to scoop the clumped litter, and I prefer to scoop and clean the toilets a few times a day. Can’t imagine having urine there for a week!
But it says it’s biodegradable and environs-friendly, and salesperson insisted on giving me a pack to try.
Here it is.
It’s made of wood flakes and there’s probiotics added to it.
Again, our girl is the “test-pilot” of every new litter.
But she quickly went back to the Ever Clean litter box and sat. Was she making a statement? I don’t know.
So far, only Tabs and Bunny has used the woodflake litter.
Tiger is using the garden as his toilet
By the way, our pearl grass is growing!
But it’s got about 6 toilet spots already. Never mind, it’s back to nature.
Cow covers the urine for Tiger, isn’t that nice?
Cow still sprays, on the plants and on my furniture…sigh.
Managing the cats takes up all day, sometimes.
But it sure is better than managing people!
Updates at 10.33pm – Just now in the evening when Bunny used the Magic Litter, I checked and the base of the litter box was wet (with urine), but now, as I was cleaning the other Ever Clean boxes, I checked the Magic Litter box and it’s completely dry. There was absolutely no smell either. I might just give this a try and see how it works. The plus point is that it’s very light to carry (Ever Clean weighs a ton!!) and of course, it is purported to be environmentally friendly since it consists of wood flakes. I’ve also mixed some with one of the Ever Clean boxes. Pole went into it and stepped out when it felt unfamiliar to the touch.
