SHELTER DIRECTOR HURT BY LAND MINE
- Help Still Needed For Food-
“We and the animals thank you very much for your great help,” Tamara Tarnawska of the SOS Kyiv Shelter said yesterday. “I am very sorry that I could not be there when you were inthe shelter and meet you personally. The fact is that shorly before your arrival, I was feeding homeless cats in the park and came across a miliary miine that exploded. As a result, my left leg and right arm were dmaaged. I had to stay at home and get treatment. I hope that the time will come and we will meet and I will personally thank you for your help that you have given for the animals of our shelter.” (We are not posting a photo of Tamara at this time as she is very afraid)
Though no one wants to think of it because it’s too painful, hunger and cold are setling over Ukraine. Harmony Fund’s aid is now slowing to a crawl because donations are not coming in. We’ve been sponsoring truckloads of food and paying fuel for volunteers to reach animals far and wide, but that aid will begin to diminish until donations replenish. Last week, we sent food to another rescuer set up in a large fenced area with dozens of animals who were left behind by fleeing refugees. He will need help building some form of shelter in the next few weeks.
It bears repeating, it is getting cold now. We welcome any form of help. In addition to donations, if you know a business who would help host a fundraiser or a journalist who might wish to share our story, we’d be so grateful.
