An Update From Aether. Do You Remember This Handso..

An update from Aether 🇬🇧

Do you remember this handsome boy? He came to us in 2019 severely malnourished, with chronic anaemia, a skin infection and a maggot-infested wound on his front paw. Although he lost one of his toes, our vets were able to save his leg and nurse him back to health.

After a year and a half at the shelter, Aether was adopted to the UK by a family who had met him while volunteering at Soi Dog and quickly fallen in love.

It’s been nearly two years since he joined them, and his life continues to be one big adventure. Here’s an update from his dad:

“We often think about everyone in Phuket and since so many people ask us about Aether, we always tell the story of how he came to be with us in UK.

Aether is just so nosey and inquisitive that you can’t stop him from getting into the middle of anything going on! Recently, I had to remove him from an open DHL van stopped for a delivery when he jumped in the back for a sniff. He also got onto a bus waiting at a stop!

This year we have taken him to France again and he had a great time, staying in hotels in Honfleur (a lovely village in Normandy) and getting a dog-friendly room with welcome water bowl and bone biscuit! We took him to a French pet shop to check out the foreign dog treats! Also, we can report he now is a French dog – Le Woof!

One of the pictures shows him with Alpha – his best mate. They are terrible when they get together at the dog park. Alpha is so much faster than Aether to catch up. So, he has developed a trick of laying down in long grass like a sheepdog and hiding until Alpha is in range then running full speed at him!

He also has a few girlfriends – Misty the spaniel, Ella the whippet and Brandi the street dog from Romania. It’s so funny to watch. He tolerates her climbing on top of him, licking his nose and because she’s small you can see in the video he plays differently. He’s much more gentle. He knows where they all live and when walking past he sits outside their houses and whines to go in and say hello!

Aether has also met up again with Enzolina who was from his run at Soi Dog. It was fascinating to watch. Aether loves people more than he loves dogs until he has met them quite a few times and decides that they are not a threat. With Enzolina, the first meeting you could see the moment when he recognised her and relaxed immediately. It was like they were back in the [shelter] off-lead [area] again as they were good with each other straight away. [Enzolina's mum] isn’t far from us and we are hoping to meet again soon.

Aether has learned to pat me with his paw in the night if he wants to go out. He also has discovered he likes frozen banana as a treat and continues to be the centre of our lives. He moults for about two months straight. The house is full of hair but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Aether means so much to us and has changed our lives.”
