Akiko Was Admitted At Upm To Undergo Surgery In On..

Akiko was admitted at UPM to undergo surgery in one ear to remove a benign tumour. She has it in both her ears but the surgery was only done in one ear first as Akiko also has a heart condition.

The mass inside that was pushing the ear canal making it narrow. The vet has removed as much mass could but they couldn’t fully remove it as it was near to some major nerves. They said there is a high chance for the mass regrowing as they didn’t manage to remove all of it. One of Akiko’s heart valves doesn’t work properly and allows back flow of blood.

Malaysian Dogs Deserve Better is a canine welfare programme initiated by non-profit organisation Community Development and Integration Initiative (CDII).

MDDB's main activities revolve around rescuing dogs from the local council pounds as well as off the streets. Once they have been rescued, the dogs are vaccinated and neutered before being put up for adoption.
