Happy first Gotcha Day to Coco! 🎂
Coco was a vulnerable three-month-old pup when she came to us in 2020. She’d met with a terrible car accident, leaving three of her four legs fractured.
It took many months of rehabilitation and rest, but Coco eventually recovered and grew into the gorgeous young girl you see here, with striking amber eyes. She had (and still has) a kooky personality, and you were bound to laugh if you spent time with her.
After 18 months at the shelter, Coco found her forever home in Quebec, Canada. Here’s an update from her mum as they celebrate her first Gotcha Day anniversary:
“I had three little dogs already, but it was my dream to adopt a dog from Soi Dog Foundation, so I contacted them and the adoptions team helped me find the best match for our family: Coco.
When Coco first arrived, she was hesitant about her new environment, but that would not keep her from wanting to discover and see new things. She was terrified of the TV, but now she watches Animal Planet with me in bed and she loves horses! She gets very excited when she sees horses on TV, she runs to the TV and tries to touch it! 😅
Coco has adjusted very well to our home. She loves to sit on the deck and watch the water or stare at the moon. She’s extremely affectionate. We made it a ritual to spend time with her in the morning petting her, giving her hugs and kisses.
She is quirky and funny. She is playful and loves to be the center of attention. She is curious and now is getting more and more confidence which makes us proud. She notices everything that even humans take for granted. Her eyes are truly the window to her soul. It tells us when she is happy, afraid or needs love.
She is so used to it that when I work overnights. When I come home to sleep in the morning and while I sleep, she puts her head in my hand for me to pet her. She is truly an awesome dog.
One of the most loving memories I have of Coco is the day I knew she was comfortable and had accepted us as her mother. It was during her first vet visit and I was at work, and my wife had to watch all four dogs alone. When they returned home, I was waiting to see how she did. All of my other little ones wanted to run and hide after coming from the vet, but Coco came in and I asked her, “What happened baby? What did the doctor do?” Coco laid down dramatically and gave me her paw that had a cartoon bandage like saying, “Look mama! Look at my bobo”. I kissed her paw and she was just like a baby absorbing all the love ❤”
