As you read this, there are hundreds of dogs being held victim to the illegal dog meat trade in the Philippines. Dogs just like Iza.

Iza’s whole life changed when she was forcefully taken from the streets. The torture and terror she endured was something of a nightmare.

Every day, Iza would have to watch from her cramped cage as fellow dogs were brutally killed and slaughtered in front of her. With nowhere to hide, she would tremble in paralysing fear as she waited for her turn. With each minute that passed, she had no idea if it would be her last.

Thankfully, a concerned member of the public alerted Animal Welfare Foundation (AKF), and they were able to rescue Iza in time.

Iza was given a second chance, but hundreds of dogs are still being killed every day. For them, there are no second chances.

But it doesn’t have to be this way. Dogs like Iza shouldn’t have to live in fear of the dog meat trade.
