If you ever hear a distinctive call coming from the canopies of the Malaysian forest, it might be a Siamang 🐒🌳! The black-furred primate is the largest of the gibbon species and one of the many that primates can be found in Peninsular Malaysia 🐵📍.

Known for their unusual and almost melodic calls, these fiercely territorial creatures will vocalize using their throat sacs to establish and defend territory. 🙊🔊

On top of habitat loss, Siamang also faces threats such as wildlife trafficking and the illegal pet trade, particularly infants, where they face poor treatment and can be detrimental to their wellbeing.
