Strengthening collaborative efforts for conservation and sustainable forest management will yield significant benefits. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between WWF-Malaysia and Forest Department Sarawak (FDS) during the state-level International Day of Forests on 28 June demonstrates this.
Both parties inked a five-year collaboration that will assist the Sarawak Government in achieving its conservation goals and objectives, which is to strengthen the environmental protection and management in priority conservation areas in the state, particularly with regard to forests and its ecosystem services in Sarawak. The MoU was exchanged in the presence of Premier Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari Bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, who also launched the event.
