Home-Cooking Again; Deboning This Time.
I joined Andi Brown’s FB exchange on homecooking for pets (actually it’s for dog recipes) and learnt that we should not give cooked bones, even if it is ground. The reason is that even finely ground bones would have sharp fragments and also cooked bones has no more nutritional value.
So, this evening, I steamed chicken breast, liver, chicken ribs and after it had cooled, I deboned the ribs.
Apparently, I just learnt that by cooking the bones together with the meat, the calcium would leach into the food already, so there would be the calcium (inside the food).
Earlier, I had made vegetable soup for ourselves, and it had celery, carrot, sweet potato, leek, basil, bok choy, mint, parsley and chili leaves, so I saved some for the petfood.
I placed all the cooked chicken (deboned) into the blender and added all the cooked vegetables (plus some vegetable soup) and blended away…
Here we are…and I added crushed eggshells for extra calcium.
Bunny was calling from the room, guess he had smelled the food!
This would be supper, so I only gave him one teaspoon.
He loved it, and asked for more.
All in, Bunny ate six teaspoons, each time, licking the bowl totally spotlessly clean.
Tabs came to ask for some as well, and she ate 5 teaspoons.
Cow came soon after.
And Cleo, too.
My homecooked meals have passed the test of Her Royal Fussinesses, Pole and Cleo. Both of them eat homecooked heartily nowadays. The fuss-pot now is Indy!
So my plan is to cook daily. I’ll do it at night and use it for breakfast, lunch and dinner the next day. If not enough, there’s always Natural Balance.
What’s that sound?
It must be Mr G….I’ll tell you the story another day.
It’s late now.
Goodnight.
