This is Yaraden and Trollo, two resident cats who arrived at our shelter within weeks of each other back in 2020 and have been firm feline friends ever since.

Yaraden knows that if he sticks by Trollo’s side for long enough during grooming time, he’ll get a little licking too. A sweet bonding exercise and a helping hand in cleaning those hard-to-reach areas.

Did you know that social grooming among species is known as allogrooming? And it isn’t always about affection either. It can also be a display of maternal instinct or even a show of dominance and social ranking.
