It was a momentous occasion for conservation in Malaysia yesterday as we celebrated not only the official launch of the Malaysia Operational IUCN Green List Handbook but also the recognition of the Sugud Islands Marine Conservation Area (SIMCA) as an IUCN Green List Site! SIMCA is the first IUCN Green List site in Malaysia and the first marine protected area in Asia to gain such recognition.
The evaluation process for the IUCN Green List in Malaysia is carried out by the Expert Assessment Group for Green List Malaysia (EAGL). WWF-Malaysia is the IUCN Green List implementing partner in Malaysia.
Heartiest congratulations to Reef Guardian and the Sabah Wildlife Department (5R Hidupan Liar) for a well-deserved recognition!
