FARM ANIMALS FACE MINE FIELDS AND ROCKETS
Three weeks ago, a Ukrainian woman named Anna wrote to us from a farm where she and one other woman are on their own trying to sustain the lives of horses, goat, cows and other animals. She asked for 500 bales of hay, which we immediately arranged. The purpose was to feed the horses until grazing season, but now this farm, and so many others, may not be able to allow grazing.
“Today, three arrived 100 meters away from us,” Ana said. “But thank God no one was hurt. All fields are mined, I’m afraid to imagine how to live on with so many animals.”
“Our village is now more or less calm. So far, the situation is controlled. In the neighboring village, Russian troops have been pushed back, but fighting is still going on there. Shelling can be heard in the side of Kharkiv which is being shelled systematically.”
None of us can say what tomorrow will bring, but we need to buy more hay for the animals here until the fields have been cleared, which could be a very, very long time. Donations today will help provide ongoing food for these animals.
